ETS Capacity Building Trainings for Governmental & Industry Representatives in March 2021

Under the context of achieving ambitious carbon neutrality target, in order to furtherly support the Chinese national ETS development, and continually improve the ability of provincial and municipal Ecological Environment Bureaus and key enterprises to address climate change and to be well prepared with the fully operation of the national carbon emission trading market, EU-China ETS Cooperation Project that is sponsored by the EU Commission, continued to deliver successfully three trainings in Baotou City, Jinzhou City and Lanzhou City, respectively in March 2021.

Experts from National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC), Energy Research Institute, National Development and Reform Commission (ERI), Shanghai Environment & Energy Exchange, China Emissions Exchange, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, SinoCarbon, China Electricity Council and Inner Mongolia Environment Sciences Academy were invited to share their insights and experience in terms of the national climate change policy and perspective of the “14th-Five Year Plan” , newly announced national carbon neutral target, carbon emission peaking actions and policies, the synergy of climate change and air pollution control, green financial policy and practice, carbon emission verification, allowance allocation and CCER of pilot carbon market, as well as other programmatic  topics.

Representatives of local Department of Ecological Environment and the Department of Climate Change delivered opening remarks and emphasized the significance of participation this training to prepare and participate well in China’s nationwide ETS. About 600 participants from regional Ecological Environment Bureaus and key emission enterprises participated in these trainings.
