The 4th PSC meeting was hosted jointly by Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) and DG Climate Action (DG CLIMA), European Commission virtually on 4 February 2021. Vicky Pollard, Team Leader of International Carbon Markets, DG CLIMA, and Deputy Director-general Sun Zhen, Climate Change Department of MEE gave welcoming remarks to the PSC meeting. 

The Project team gave a presentation on the project implementation in 2020, highlighting the main activities and outputs under each Component of the project and providing detailed figures of project delivery. The 2021 work plan has been introduced, which included proposed activities under each Component and associated timeline.

Both parties agreed that the EU and China could have a further discussion on the celebration of China’s nationwide ETS official start, as this will be a great work for the implementation of the Paris Agreement. China plays a significant role in global economic development and in the international climate action and the EU will continue to support China in developing an efficient nationwide ETS.
