ETS Capacity Building Trainings for Governmental & Industry Representatives in April 2021

Under the context of achieving ambitious carbon neutrality target, in order to furtherly support the Chinese national ETS development, and continually improve the ability of provincial and municipal Ecological Environment Bureaus and key enterprises to address climate change and to be well prepared with the fully operation of the national carbon emission trading market, EU-China ETS Cooperation Project that is sponsored by the EU Commission, continued to deliver successfully four trainings in Hainan Province, Yinchuan City, Inner Mongolia and Mianyang City, respectively in April 2021. 

Experts from Tsinghua University, SinoCarbon, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Environmental and Economic Policy Research Center, Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange, Hubei Carbon Emissions Exchange, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) China Program, National Centerfor Climate change Strategy and International Cooperation, ICF, China Environmental United Certification Center Co., Ltd, Inner Mongolia Academy of Environmental Sciences and Sichuan United Environment Exchange were invited to share their insights and experience in terms of the national climate change policy and perspective of the “14th-Five Year Plan” , newly announced national carbon neutral target, carbon emission peaking actions and policies, the synergy of climate change and air pollution control, green financial policy and practice, carbon emission verification, allowance allocation and CCER of pilot carbon market, EU Green Deal and its low carbon policies, as well as other programmatic  topics. 

Representatives of local Department of Ecological Environment and the Department of Climate Change delivered opening remarks and emphasized the significance of participation this training to prepare and participate well in China’s nationwide ETS. More than 800 participants from regional Ecological Environment Bureaus and key emission enterprises participated in these trainings.
