Under the context of achieving ambitious carbon neutrality target, in order to furtherly support the Chinese national ETS development, and continually improve the ability of provincial and municipal Ecological Environment Bureaus and key enterprises to address climate change and to be well engaged with the fully operation of the national carbon emission trading market, EU-China ETS Cooperation Project that is sponsored by the EU Commission, continued to deliver two successful trainings in Gansu Province (onsite training) and Wuxi City (online training), Jiangsu Province in August 2021.
Experts from National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, Environmental Engineering Evaluation Center of Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Tsinghua University, China University of Geosciences, Gansu Carbon Emission Trading Center, Tianjin Carbon Emission Rights Exchange, Hubei Carbon Emission Trading Registration Center, Shanghai Energy Exchange, Huaneng Carbon Assets and SinoCarbon shared their professional views on Carbon emission trading market basis and policy background, the statistical accounting and quality control of carbon market-related data, Interpretation of the National Carbon Emissions Trading Management Measures, The relationship between forestry carbon sinks and carbon markets and introduction to voluntary emission reduction transactions, Pilot carbon market allowance allocation case and compliance analysis, Introduction to carbon market registration and trading system tools and Explanation of the allocation method of carbon emission allowances in the power generation industry and the other topics.
Representatives of local Department of Ecological Environment (EEBs) and the Department of Climate Change delivered opening remarks and emphasized the significance of participation in the trainings to participate well in China’s nationwide ETS. 520 participants from regional Ecological Environment Bureaus and key emission enterprises participated in the training.
