Under the context of achieving ambitious carbon neutrality target, in order to furtherly support the Chinese national ETS development, and continually improve the ability of provincial and municipal Ecological Environment Bureaus and key enterprises to address climate change and to be well engaged with the fully operation of the national carbon emission trading market, EU-China ETS Cooperation Project that is sponsored by the EU Commission, delivered two successful trainings in Dalian City and Gansu Province in October 2021.

Experts from Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange, Hubei Carbon Emissions Exchange, SinoCarbon, National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, and Appraisal Center for Environment and Engineering shared their professional views on basic knowledge of carbon emission trading market basis and policy background, interpretation of the National Carbon Emissions Trading Management Measures including the introduction of registration and trading rules, total carbon market allowances and allocation method, collaborate to promote pollution and carbon reduction work, introduction to the application of carbon emission registration system, case sharing of government Carbon Emission Information Platform, interpretation of carbon emissions trading and accounting system, carbon market construction in the power generation industry and prospects for power transformation, issues and case introductions in enterprise verification and data submission, national carbon emission rights registration rules and system display, introduction and system display of national carbon emission trading rules, corporate greenhouse gas accounting methods and reporting guidelines. In addition, the panel discussions in carbon verification and daily management organized by seven enterprises received enthusiastic response as well.

Representatives of local Ecological and Environment Bureaus (EEBs) delivered opening remarks and emphasized the significance of participation in the trainings to participate well in China’s nationwide ETS. About 300 participants from regional Ecological Environment Bureaus and key emission enterprises participated in the training.
