04/25/2024

The joint meetings on a Chinese ETS Train-the-Trainer pilot programme, supported by the EU-China ETS Dialogue and Cooperation Project, were held weekly online on 8 April, 15 April and 22 April.

Based on the discussions in the previous meetings, the representatives from DG Climate Action (DG CLIMA), European Commission, the Chinese and European experts and the project team have continued to discuss and confirm the proposal details and implementation methodology of the Train-the-Trainer programme, including: the course content of the general training, the application of the self-study platform, the design of the examination papers, the technical support for the online examination and scoring of the examination papers, the selection and administration of the trainees, and other relevant issues, in order to be fully prepared for the general training, which will be carried out from 23 to 26 April.

This innovative pilot is intended to train future Chinese emission trading trainers to cascade the training to wider personnel involved in the monitoring and reporting of emissions from power generation (and possibly cement production) relevant to the Chinese Emissions Trading Scheme.
