The workshop on auctioning, MSR and other Issues, supported by the EU-China ETS Dialogue and Cooperation Project, were held online on 13 September.
As China's national ETS moves to the next stage, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) is continuously seeking more in-depth exchange and learning from the EU ETS on specific issues that have been identified to help China to optimise the operation and functions of its national ETS. Based on previous successful experiences, one of the most cost-effective ways to address these questions is to organise a virtual technical workshop where relevant Chinese participants can learn from officials/experts from the Directorate General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA), European Commission, and have the opportunity to exchange technical details.
In this workshop, officials/experts from the DG CLIMA presented design and underlying principles of the EU ETS in the light of the issues raised by MEE, auctioning, organisation and drivers of trade in the EU ETS, MSR, and MRV/CEMS.
