To enable the Ecology and Environment Bureaus within Heyuan city much more familiar with day-to-day tasks of ETS and to prepare and participate well in China’s nationwide ETS and provide related knowledges & experiences in terms of regional low carbon development. The ETS capacity building for governmental representatives in Heyuan City has been conducted on 17th July 2020.
Affected by the COVID-19 crisis, the Project Team also adopted the hybrid training combing the models of onsite & online for 40 representatives from Guangdong Province. The Deputy Director of Heyuan Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau gave opening remarks and stressed that climate change is an overall and comprehensive work, which requires all parties to take the initiative to carry out the relevant work and then solve the problems existing in the process of economic development. The Key Expert of Component B of the EU-China Emissions Trading System (ETS) also addressed the significance of China’s ETS and climate policies and introduced the background & activities of the project. The training was conducted successfully, and experts from National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC), Zhongshan University, Guangzhou Emissions Exchange, and SinoCarbon gave lectures and shared their professional views on China’s nationwide ETS, GHG inventory, and emissions peaking.
